We searched with the keywords 'Woman body broken' and 'Odisha' and came across news reports from 2016 with the same men in the viral image carrying the woman's body on a bamboo stick.
The faces and clothing worn by the two men in the article matched with the two men in the viral images.
According to a news report by India Today dated August 26, 2016, the incident had occurred near Soro railway station in Odisha where two men were tasked to carry the body of an old woman after she was run over by a goods train.
Salamani Behera's (80) body had to be taken to the Balasore district hospital for post-mortem, but no ambulance was available reported The Indian Express.
Soro GRP Assistant Sub-Inspector Pratap Rudra Mishra told The Indian Express that he had initially asked an auto-rickshaw driver to take the body to the railway station.
“But the auto driver asked for Rs 3,500 while we cannot spend more than Rs 1,000 for such purposes. I had no other option but to ask some Grade IV workers of the Soho CHC to carry it,” claimed Mishra.
The incident was widely reported at that time in the media as this was the second incident in the state after a tribal from Kalahandi district had to carry his wife’s body on his shoulders.
