Fact
The above message is fake and has not been issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). BOOM had previously fact-checked the same message in April 2019. The RBI had denied issuing any instructions that commercial banks would have a 5 day week in a press release dated April 20, 2019. Yogesh Dayal, Chief General Manager of the RBI had said, "It has been reported in certain sections of the media that commercial banks would have a 5 day week in terms of RBI instructions. It is clarified that this information is not factually correct. RBI has not issued any such directions."
Banks would not remain closed every Saturday from this month.
