Incessant rains across the North-East states have caused massive flooding. Assam's Kaziranga National Park has been one of the worst affected with over 300 animals, including 21 rhinos drowning and dying. A one-horned rhino got stuck on Assam's NH-37 after escaping flood waters and damaged vehicles, huts due to a crowd gathering around it.

Actual assessment of the total damage will be carried out later this month. There have not many cases of stray rhinos this year and patrolling is being done to ensure they do not stray across NH-37.
