At least three killed, nearly 100 injured in a chemical factory blast in Thane district, Maharashtra. Initial reports say cylinders exploded leading to a fire in the chemical manufacturing unit of Herbert Brown Pharmaceutical & Research Laboratories.

Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. An eyewitness said the intensity of the blast was so high that window panes in several adjoining buildings shattered.
Chaos prevailed in vicinity of the industrial unit where the blast occurred. The rescue operation was monitored by Thane District Collector and Municipal Commissioner.
