Lancet Retracts HCQ Study Which Halted WHO Trial
The Lancet has retracted the study "Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine with or without a macrolide for treatment of COVID-19: a multinational registry analysis" after the authors of the study "were unable to complete an independent audit of the data underpinning their analysis", the journal said in a statement. The World Health Organisation, which had halted trials after the publication of the study, have since resumed the trials. Richard Hurton, the editor of The Lancet, told The Guardian, "This is a shocking example of research misconduct in the middle of a global health emergency."
