Rafael Nadal To Skip US Open Due To Pandemic

Defending US Open men's champion Rafael Nadal will skip the 2020 edition of the tournament scheduled to be held from 31 August due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking to Twitter, Nadal said, "The situation is very complicated worldwide, the COVID-19 cases are increasing, it looks like we still don’t have control of it" adding that this was a decision he never wanted to make. Women's World No 1 Ashleigh Barty and Australian compatriot Nick Kyrgios had earlier announced that they would also not be taking part in the tournament due to the pandemic.
