Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh Extend Lockdown

Tamil Nadu and Punjab have extended the lockdown till 30 June while Madhya Pradesh has extended the lockdown till 15 June even as the central government issued guidelines to reopen the country.

Punjab CM Amrinder Singh said that the state has evidence of community spread of the virus which necessitates the extension. He also said that there will be relaxations in restrictions which will be announced later.

Tamil Nadu CM K Palaniswamy also extended the lockdown but with more relaxations. Buses will be allowed to operate everywhere except Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Thiruvallur districts.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that reopening the economy while the virus is still prevalent would be dangerous and also announced that schools could reopen after 13 June.
