Members from the Volcanology Southern Observatory (OVS), the Jicamarca Radio Observatory and the Research Group of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PUCP), conducted the first set of tests using drones in the Ubinas volcano in Moquegua, obtaining unpublished images.

It is the first time an unmanned vehicle has flown at an altitude of more than 6,000 meters above sea level and is used for volcanic monitoring, particularly in the country's most active volcano.

After being dormant for several years, the volcano has become increasingly active since September 2013.
