RJD Single Largest Party, Over 60% Votes Counted
RJD has emerged as the single largest party with a lead in 77 seats, while the BJP takes lead in 72 seats. The NDA is now ahead in 121 seats, and the RJD in 114 seats in a razor thin competition, as 40% votes still remain to be counted.
RJD Leading In 74 Seats, BJP At 71
The RJD slowly took over the BJP as the single largest party according to the latest count of votes, with a lead in 74 seats, with BJP's lead falling to 71.
The NDA currently leads in 121 seats, while the grand alliance leads in 113 seats.
Meanwhile, 32 seats have a vote margin of less than 1000 votes, that could potentially swing the elections.
Results Declared For 10 Seats
The BJP has won 4 seats, JDU and RJD each has won 2 seats and Congress and VIP got 1 seat each.
Left Parties Leading In 18 Out Of 29 Contested
The CPI, CPI(M) and CPI-ML(Liberation) are now leading in 18 out of 29 contested seats. The Left parties fought the election with RJD and Congress as part of the grand alliance.
This would be a great victory for the Left, which was decimated to just three seats in the 2015 assembly elections.49 Seats With Margin Of Less Than 1000 votes
Although the NDA is well ahead with a 128-seat lead, as opposed to the grand alliance's lead in 104 seats, the election is being fought competitively with 49 seats having a margin of 1000 votes.
Counting Will Take Longer, Says Deputy Election Commissioner
"Despite counting being well underway, we might have a delay in getting the results because of higher number of polling stations and EVMs", says Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Election Commission. He also added that there will be 35 rounds of counting this time.
67 Seats Have Margin Of Less Than 1000 Votes
The election is being fought with razor thin margins, with 67 seats having a margin of less than 1000 votes. NDA is still ahead of the majority mark with a lead in 129 seats, while the grand alliance follows with a 99-seat lead.
