India Reports More Than 78k Cases Second Day In A Row
India's total COVID-19 caseload has increased to 36,21,245 after the country reported 78,512 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country has been reporting the highest number of cases globally.
The death count stands at 64,469 with 971 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister's Staff Tests Positive
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is self-isolating after two of his staff members tested for COVID-19. The CM took to Twitter to share that his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and Protective Special Officer (PSO) tested positive for COVID-19.

Haryana Cancels Monday/Tuesday Lockdown
Following the Centre's unlock 4.0 guidelines, Haryana has reversed its directive ordering malls and shops to remain shut on Monday and Tuesday. The state reversed its orders after the Ministry of Home Affairs announced that states should not announce any lockdowns outside containment zones without consulting with the Ministry.
Protests Against COVID-19 Restrictions And Lockdowns In Many Countries
United Kingdom, France, and Germany have seen several protests against COVID-19 restrictions across the countries. While in UK, citizens protested against the lockdown, France saw citizens protesting against the mandatory mask rule that was reimposed following a surge in cases in the country.
In Berlin, many protests have been organized by COVID-19 sceptics who believe that SARS-CoV-2 is a conspiracy theory.
India Reports Highest One Day Spike
India reported its highest daily spike after it reported 78,761 new cases taking the total number of cases to 35,42,733.
The country reported 948 new casualties in the last 24 hours as the death toll reached 63,498.
With 27,13,933 people having recovered, the number of active cases stand at 7,65,302.
Maharashtra Reports Highest One-day Rise In New COVID-19 Cases
Maharashtra has reported 16,867 new COVID-19 cases, the highest one-day rise in cases taking the total case count to 7,64,281. The death toll rose to 24,103 after 328 people succumbed to the disease.
Two IPL Players, 11 Personnel Test Positive For COVID-19: BCCI
13 people have tested positive including two players in the IPL's UAE bio-secure bubble, the BCCI said in a statement today. The BCCI said that 1,988 RT-PCR COVID tests were carried out between August 20 and 28. The 13 people who have tested positive are asymptomatic and have been isolated along with the people they have come in contact with.
India Reports 75k New COVID-19 Cases For Third Consecutive Day
India has reported 76,472 new COVID-19 cases as the total case count rose to 34,63,972. The active caseload is 7,52,424 while 26,48,988 patients have been cured or discharged so far. The death toll has risen to 62,550 after 1,021 patients died due to the disease.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat Tests COVID-19 Positive
Asian Games gold medallist, wrestler, Vinesh Phogat has tested positive for COVID-19. The 26-year old who has been awarded the Khel Ratna award this year is asymptomatic and is following home quarantine.
Kanyakumari MP Dies Due To COVID-19
Congress MP from Kanyakumari, H. Vasanthakumar died due to COVID-19 on Friday. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital on August 10 after he tested positive for COVID-19.
Several leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted condolence messages for deceased MP.
