India Has To Work To Get Its Average Up In The Education System: Lord Meghnad Desai

Lord Meghnad Desai, an Economist and Professor Emeritus, London School Of Economics speaks on the milestones achieved in the education sector as well as the areas which require corrective action.

Lord Meghnad Desai acknowledges that India has managed to provide access to almost every village with primary education centres but says, "Higher education is a challenge both in terms of access and quality."

 

He also mentions that India's average is very low if compared to the country's economic aspirations and that the government as well as the private sector have to work collectively to get the average up. "The 1% will always be there like the Satya Nadellas but we have to get the average up if we want the economic growth numbers to go up for a long time."
