A graphic has gone viral on Facebook with the false claim that Zomato's sales have decreased by 60% in 10 hours after users started boycotting it.
The online food ordering app is facing flak from a large section of conservative Hindus for standing up to a Hindu customer who cancelled an order from a restaurant as the delivery person was a Muslim.
The food delivery giant also replied to the customer with ‘Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion,’ winning many hearts online.
However, several others who were upset with the company urged Hindu netizens to boycott the app.

"In 10 hours only Zomato sales have dropped down by 60%. Try a bit harder, it should reach 90%. Long live Hindu unity," the text of the graphic claims.

FACT-CHECK
Zomato is a private company and unlike publicly listed companies, it is not required to disclose its financial statements to the public.
However, the company posted its annual report for FY2019 in April on its blog.
Zomato reported a loss of $294 million for the year ended March 31, 2019 even though its revenue grew threefold to $206 million. Most of the losses were on account of the food delivery business in India, Zomato said in its annual report.
BOOM also searched with various keywords like 'drop in Zomato sales', 'Zomato sales down by 60%', and 'Zomato sales' and did not find a single news articles on the same.
