Twenty-two tribal children died over the past two months due to acute malnutrition in Odisha's Jajpur district. The children belonged to the Juang Tribe in in Nagada village, Odisha.

With no access to immediate health care and social welfare benefits, situation remains grim in the village. 46% of India’s children under five years of age are underweight, 48% are stunted and 25% are in a wasted state of health, according to the 2015 GoI figures.
Acute malnutrition is an underlying cause of the death for 3 million children annually, across the world.
