Old News Video On Indo-Pak Shelling Revived As Recent

The video, originating from an instance of ceasefire violation from May 2018, is being shared to falsely portray the ongoing Indo-Pak conflict.

An old video is being shared to falsely portray the recent violations of ceasefire between India and Pakistan, amidst escalating tensions between the two countries.

The video is highly reminiscent of the on the current situation at the Line of Control (LoC) and can be easily mistaken as an actual portrayal of the ongoing conflict.

The clip was shared by a Facebook page called Kashmir Paradise, which has over 16000 followers.

It has gained around 6 lakh views at the time this article was written, and continues to go viral as the situation at the Indo-Pak border deteriorates.

BOOM did a reverse image search and found no matching results.

We then watched the video closely to find out that the video was taken by News Tak, which part of the India Today group, and was shot in the border town of Arnia in J&K.

BOOM took into consideration the context provided in the video and did a Google search with the keywords, "border pakistan arnia breaking news "news tak"".

The exact same video, posted on YouTube, was found among the search results.

It turns out that the video was posted on May 23, 2018, during an instance of ceasefire violation and mortar shelling at the border by Pakistan, and has no relation to the current cross-border shelling which was caused due to events following the Pulwama attack.
