The fake image is being shared on Facebook with a caption in Hindi that reads, "a cross instead of mangalsutra dangles from the neck of this 'sacred-thread' wearing dattatreya Brahmin."

The post by a Facebook user Manjeet Bagga got around a 227 shares and more than 400 likes at the time of writing the story. The post specifically draws attention to the fake crucifix with a red arrow and implies that Gandhi is a Christian.

We found news articles including by ABP, India Today using the same image and found that Priyanka Gandhi is not wearing a cross but a white pendant. India Today's article credited the image to Getty Images, a stock images website.
BOOM searched Getty Images for the photo and found it dating back to February 7, 2017 from a rally held at Rae Bareli to support party candidates during the Uttar Pradesh state elections. The photo can be accessed here.
