In hurdle and steeplechase, athletes must run and jump over obstacles in high speed. Accidentally bumping into or knocking over a hurdle does not result in penalty but it does slow down the athlete’s speed.

Barriers for steeplechase measures 12 cm wide. Athletes must hurdle over the normal barrier and step on the water barrier to obtain enough momentum to cross the water puddle.
Steeplechase requires skills including running, hurdling and long jumping. The events will take place at Olympic Stadium in Rio.
