The Indian Space Research Organisation took to Twitter on September 9, 2019, to announce that its Chairman Dr. Kailasavadivoo Sivan does not have a personal Twitter account.
This comes after a number of fake accounts in the name of Dr. Sivan started appearing on Twitter - with many of them carrying no disclaimer of being a fan or parody account. Some of these accounts went as far as claiming to be official accounts of the ISRO Chairman.
On July 22, 2019, ISRO launched its second lunar exploration mission - dubbed as Chandrayaan-2 - led by Dr. Sivan. On September 7, ISRO made news again after an eventful landing of the Vikram lander - which ended in a deviation from trajectory and loss of communications with the lander.
BOOM went through a list of such accounts and observed that all of them were created recently - either in August or September, 2019.
So we decided to list the ones that are doing the rounds of the internet- and attracting considerable number of followers.
