Afghan Taliban named Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada, who was one of former leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour's deputies, to succeed him. Mawlawi Haibatullah who belongs to the powerful Noorzai tribe, is estimated to be in his 50s and is respected amongst the Taliban as an Islamic scholar. Mawlawi Haibatullah served as a judicial leader during the days of the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
