Uttrakhand Forest Fire Claims Lives Even As Government Sends NDRF Teams To Control It

A forest fire raging since a week in Uttarakhand has claimed 5 lives and burnt down 1600 hectares in the Garhwal region of the state. Forest fires are natural during summer but lack of rains during winter has meant that forest is dry and susceptible to fires.
