Kumartuli in West Bengal is said to be the potters' hub. This place in Kolkata is the center of idol making at the time of Durga Puja. But amidst the lockdown in the coronavirus pandemic, this economic activity revolving around the festival has slowed down. Idol makers usually earn upto Rs. 25,000. But this time, their earnings have slashed by 50% as they have received only one-fourth the usual orders. What is the plight of artisans in 2020? Have they received government help?
