Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (DMK) leader Khushboo Sundar lashed out against All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (AIADMK) leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa saying not a single multinational company (MNC) has invested in the state during the three years of the AIADMK regime since 2011.
"There are no job opportunities for youngsters in the state today. During the DMK rule between 2006 and 2011, so many MNCs came to the state, IT was developed, and so many jobs were added," Khushboo said.
Talking 'politics' in a conversation with Dhanya Rajendran, editor, thenewsminute.com, in Chennai recently, Khushboo said the key issues in Tamil Nadu for the current elections are power, price rise, water and law and order.
"Whenever I go for campaigning, people are asking me to bring back power. Earlier, power cuts used to be for two hours, and everybody knew the timing of the cuts. Today, the situation is totally different," Khushboo said.
Not one to be fazed by allegations of dynasty politics and corruption by DMK leaders, Khushboo has cryptic answers for all queries. Talking about DMK leader M Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin taking over control of the party, she says: "Stalin happens to be the most lovable and hard-working party member. It is quite natural that he is poised to lead the party."
Coming to the 2G scam and charges of corruption against DMK leaders, Khushboo says courts should decide about the 2G cases. "Why jump to conclusions and say A Raja/Kanimozhi have done anything wrong?"
Khushboo feels the day of freebies are over and voters are no longer impressed with them. What people want are ways to take care of their needs and lead a decent life.
"DMK always works for the betterment of the future, not the present. The only promise this time by our leader is to take care of education loans. The last time, Kalaignar (M Karunanidhi) said Rs 7,000 crore of farmers loans will be waived off and he did it," Khusboo said.
