Why Android One Phones Are Value For Money

By - BOOM | 20 Sept 2014 12:21 PM IST

Google recently launched Android One phones priced around Rs 6,000 along with three manufacturers - Micromax, Karbonn and Spice. So, the question is - will it change the market for smartphones by offering value for money options or will it be killed by competition?

Abhimanyu Radhakrishnan, host of SuperTechies, said to get a phone as good as iPhone5 at Rs 6,000 is a great idea.

Rohan Naravane, head of content & product, PriceBaba, said: "Low-end phones never received attention from Google before. This is a Rs 6,000 phone you will not pull your hair out."

Abhimanyu added that all the combinations seem to be working for Android One. "The best part is that updates will come guaranteed to your phone without you having to do anything. However, android has security issues like they are not as strict as Apple about apps. I will need a basic phone where I will not be doing app usage."

While Rohan said Android One phones will pose serious threat to Samsung, Abhimanyu said he does not see anybody else competing at this price.
