Harun Sheikh caught the cow and beat the animal mercilessly, fracturing two of the animals’ legs. Police said when the woman on finding the cow being thrashed, rushed to rescue the animal. Instead of listening to the woman, Harun and his accomplices pounced upon her and started beating her after stripping her. They then chopped off two fingers of the 33-year old’s left hand. The woman has been admitted to Malda hospital and is in a critical state.
