Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is an Indian politician and a senior leader of the Indian National Congress, currently serving as a Member of Parliament from the Berhampore constituency in West Bengal. Born on April 2, 1956, in Baharampur, West Bengal, Chowdhury is known for his outspoken approach and active role in parliamentary debates. He has held various leadership positions within the Congress Party and has been a vocal critic of the ruling party on issues related to governance, economic policy, and social justice.
In May 2024, BOOM fact-checked a viral video claiming that Chowdhury was asking people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
BOOM’s investigation revealed that the video was cropped, and the full version showed Chowdhury campaigning for Congress candidate Jangipur Mortaza Hossain Bakul in West Bengal. This clarified the context of Chowdhury's statements and dispelled the misleading narrative surrounding the video.
