Hemant Soren, born on August 10, 1975, in Ramgarh, Bihar (now Jharkhand), is an Indian politician currently serving as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He is a prominent leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a regional party that advocates for the rights and development of the tribal communities in the state. Soren has held the office of Chief Minister twice, first from 2013 to 2014 and then again since 2019, after leading the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance to victory in the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
The son of Shibu Soren, a veteran politician and founding leader of the JMM, Hemant Soren entered politics in the early 2000s. His initial focus was on tribal rights, land acquisition issues, and social welfare schemes. As Chief Minister, Soren has emphasized policies related to tribal welfare, healthcare, education, and rural development.
