The I.N.D.I.A. bloc, formally known as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, represents a coalition of political parties in India. The alliance, established with the intent to contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, comprises multiple parties led by the Indian National Congress. The bloc emerged from discussions and meetings among party leaders, with the aim to present a united front against the incumbent National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
In April 2024, BOOM came across a false claim being widely shared, showing Dainik Bhaskar newspaper clipping with Dainik Bhaskar-Nelson survey predicting victory for INDIA alliance in ten states.
We found that the viral newspaper clipping of Dainik Bhaskar was dated April 13, 2024, and had 'Bhopal' written next to the date, indicating that it was the Bhopal edition of the publication. After a thorough perusal of the entire edition, we were unable to find any such report on a survey predicting a victory for the INDIA alliance in ten states.
We also reached out to LP Pant, the national editor of the publication, who confirmed to us that the viral newspaper clipping is fake.
Another false claim debunked by BOOM related to the I.N.D.I.A bloc was in April 2024 where claims suggested that a massive crowd gathered to show support to the alliance’s rally in Delhi. However, BOOM found that the photo was from a rally held under the Left Front in Kolkata's Brigade Parade ground in February 2019. BOOM ran a reverse image search and found the same photo in several articles about a Left Front-led rally from 2019.
