Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Amardeep Ranaut, born on March 23, 1987, in Bhambla, Himachal Pradesh, is an acclaimed Indian actress, filmmaker, and politician. Since June 2024, she has been serving as a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, representing the Mandi constituency. Ranaut is known for her strong portrayals of unconventional, strong-willed women in female-led Hindi films, earning her critical and commercial success. Over her career, she has received numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards, and has been featured six times in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list.

Ranaut gained recognition with films like Fashion (2008), Queen (2014), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019), establishing herself as one of Bollywood's leading actresses. In June 2024, BOOM fact-checked a viral photo falsely claimed to show the Gandhi family posing with former CISF officer Kulwinder Kaur, who allegedly slapped Kangana Ranaut.

BOOM found out that the image actually featured former Congress MLA Divya Maderna, not Kulwinder Kaur, debunking the misleading claim.
