Mansukh Mandaviya is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), currently serving as the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare since July 2021. Born on 1 June 1972 in Hanol, Gujarat, Mandaviya has been an influential figure in Indian politics, known for his work in public health, social welfare, and infrastructure development. He is also a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.
Mandaviya began his political journey with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was first elected to the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in 2002 and later became an MP in the Rajya Sabha in 2012. Prior to taking charge as the Health Minister, Mandaviya served as the Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways and the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, where he played a crucial role in expanding India's infrastructure and promoting the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative.
As the Health Minister, Mandaviya’s tenure has been marked by significant efforts to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, including the vaccination drive, expansion of healthcare infrastructure, and the distribution of medical supplies across the country. He has been actively involved in public health campaigns and efforts to strengthen India's pharmaceutical industry. Mandaviya has also focused on initiatives to make healthcare accessible and affordable, promoting schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana.
