Sachin Pilot, born on September 7, 1977, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, is an Indian politician and a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress (INC). He is the son of the late Rajesh Pilot, a well-known Congress leader, and has continued his family's political legacy both in Rajasthan and at the national level. Pilot has served as a Member of Parliament for the Ajmer and Dausa constituencies and was the Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology from 2012 to 2014. Known for his focus on youth empowerment, social justice, and governance reforms, he has been an active figure in state and national politics.
In Rajasthan, Pilot played a pivotal role in the Congress Party’s 2018 state assembly election campaign, which led to the party's victory. He subsequently became the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, serving from 2018 to 2020, during which he worked on issues related to education, infrastructure, and farmers' welfare.
In September 2023, BOOM fact-checked a viral claim suggesting that Omar Abdullah’s estranged wife, Payal Abdullah, is Sachin Pilot’s sister.
BOOM found out that the claim was false. The video in question, which resurfaced in 2023, was actually from 2016 and showed Payal Abdullah discussing her separation from former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, with no connection to Pilot.
