Bharat Biotech's Nasal Vaccine For Covid-19 Gets Govt Nod For Emergency Use

Bharat Biotech's nasal vaccine for Covid-19 received a nod for restricted use in adults for emergency situations by the drug controller on Tuesday.

“This step will further strengthen our collective fight against the pandemic. India has harnessed its science, R&D, and human resources in the fight against COVID-19 under PM @NarendraModi Ji’s leadership. With the science-driven approach & Sabka Prayas, we will defeat COVID-19,” Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Since the vaccine will be given through nasal spray, it will be non-invasive and no trained health workers will be required to administer the vaccine.

This is India's first nasal vaccine for Covid-19 and is being seen as a big step towards immunisation against the infection.
