Dileep Sexual Assault Case Survivor Speaks Out, Actress Says She Will Continue Fight To Claim Justice
The survivor of the 2017 sexual assault in Kerala has spoken out for the first time saying she will continue her fight to seek justice. Malayalam actor Dileep is accused of masterminding the assault.
In a social media post, the survivor wrote, "This has not been an easy journey. The journey from being a victim to becoming a survivor. To see justice prevail, to get wrongdoers punished and to ensure no one else goes through such an ordeal again, I shall continue this journey."
The survivor has received support from many within the Malayalam film industry and earlier released statements on the case through the Women in Cinema Collective. Dileep's ex-wife Manju Warrier has also supported her and is a witness in the case.
The survivor's statement comes after the Malayalam women's magazine Vanitha faced flak for featuring Dileep and his family on the cover of the January edition. The cover story has termed as an attempt to whitewash Dileep's image and portray him as a family man.
Dileep's former friend Balachandar revealed that Dileep was in possession of a video of the assault on the actress. A new FIR has been filed against Dileep after new evidence revealed the actor conspired to murder the investigating official and Deputy Superintendent Baiju Paulose.
