Indian Students In Ukraine Return Home As Russia Begins Military Operations
Indian students studying in Ukraine returned home as the Russian military operations began after President Vladimir Putin's announcement on Thursday.
On Wednesday, around 240 Indians, including students, arrived in India from Ukraine on Air India's Boeing 787 aircraft.
The returnees upon arrival on Wednesday said the situation in Ukraine was peaceful, yet panicky. But with air raids beginning there now, people are now looking to move to safer places.
Four flights were scheduled to depart between February 25 and March 6 from Ukraine. But with air space being shut, authorities have activated alternative evacuation routes for 20,000 Indians stranded in Ukraine.
The MEA in India has now set up a control roon in Delhi to assist to the Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine. The control room will be made operational 24×7.
