BBC To Explore AI-Driven Journalism; Says No To OpenAI Data Scraping
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced its intention to explore the potential application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in journalism.
However, they clarified that this implementation would not supplant human expertise, nor would they permit OpenAI to scrape their content.
According to the blog post, the company “will always prioritise and prize authentic, human storytelling by reporters, writers and broadcasters who are the best in their fields”.
The company also expressed its commitment to collaborate with tech firms, fellow media entities, and regulatory bodies to ensure the responsible advancement of generative AI, emphasising the preservation of trust within the news sector.
