CDSCO Flags Over 50 Drugs, Including Paracetamol, Calcium Supplements, For Failing Quality Tests
The Central Drugs Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO) has identified over 50 drugs, including paracetamol, Pan D, and calcium supplements, as "not of standard quality."
This announcement came in its latest monthly report and has raised safety concerns about the use of these medications.
Medicines that failed quality checks include vitamin C and D3 tablets, Pan-D, paracetamol, Glimepiride, and Telmisartan.
Manufacturers involved include Hetero Drugs, Alkem Laboratories, Hindustan Antibiotics, Karnataka Antibiotics, Pure & Cure Healthcare, and Meg Lifesciences.
Metronidazole by HAL failed quality tests, and Shelcal, a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement, was flagged in the NSQ Alert category.
The central regulator listed 48 drugs that failed quality checks and 5 in the NSQ Alert category. In August, the CDSCO banned over 156 fixed-dose drug combinations due to "likely risk to humans".
