FIR Filed Against Rahul Gandhi Over Parliament Scuffle: What Are The Charges?
An FIR has been filed against Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over a scuffle in Parliament on Thursday.
The case invokes sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), including Section 117 (grievous hurt), Section 115 (hurt), Section 125 (endangering life or safety), Section 131 (assault), Section 351 (criminal intimidation), and Section 3(5) (common intention).
The FIR alleges that Gandhi injured two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, during the altercation.
Sarangi alleged that Gandhi pushed Rajput, causing a collision near the Parliament stairs, while Congress accused BJP MPs of injuring Mallikarjun Kharge. Both Sarangi and Rajput were treated at RML Hospital.
This happened as INDIA bloc MPs were protesting near the Ambedkar statue in Parliament, demanding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation over remarks on Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha.
Following the incident, NDA MPs, including Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, filed a complaint at the Parliament Street Police Station.
