57-year-old man who received the first pig heart transplant has died.

David Bennett, the 57-year-old man who was the first one to receive a pig heart transplant has died two months after the transplant.
The doctors at University of Maryland Medical Center who operated on him did not give his exact cause of death but stated that his condition was deteriorating for the past several days
"We are grateful for every innovative moment, every crazy dream, every sleepless night that went into this historic effort," David Bennett Jr. said in a statement released by the University of Maryland School of Medicine. "We hope this story can be the beginning of hope and not the end."
Bennett was ineligible for a heart transplant and one of the longest surviving recipients of an animal organ transplant
The need for finding animal and other sources for organ transplantation is huge as over 1,06,000 people were in queue in the US to receive transplantations.
