US Airport Worker Steals Plane, Threatens To Crash Into Mississippi Walmart
A 29-year-old airport worker sent the authorities into a tizzy after he stole a plane and threatened to crash into Walmart store in Mississippi on Saturday.
He was identified as Cory Wayne Patterson and knew how to take off the plane, but not how to land it. He landed the plane safely after circling Mississippi Tupelo city for about five hours.
According to reports, Patterson stole the Beechcraft King Air 90 plane on Saturday morning. He posted a "farewell" message on Facebook. “Sorry everyone. Never actually wanted to hurt anyone. I love my parents and sister this isn’t your fault. Goodbye,” he wrote.
"The plane over North MS is down. Thankful the situation has been resolved and that no one was injured. Thank you most of all to local, state, and federal law enforcement who managed this situation with extreme professionalism," Governor Tate Reeves said in a tweet on Saturday.
Patterson has been taken into custody and is likely to be booked for grand larceny and making terrorist threats, according to reports.
