After Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, we have not found a single bowler who can win us matches, according to Kiran More, former Indian wicket keeper and former chairman of the selection committee of BCCI.
More was participating in a discussion 'Are We Doing Enough To Get Match-Winning Bowlers' on BoomNews's show #Cricket-O-Mania.
Co-host Ayaz Memon said we have a terrific bunch of batsmen but where are the bowlers? "We have always been known more for our batting than our bowling."
More felt selectors have not done a good enough job of finding match-winning bowlers. "And most of the pitches are flat; pitches have to be hard, bouncy."
While Memon pointed out that Pakistan gets a line of fast bowlers, More said: "You have to create bowlers. Bhuvaneshwar (Kumar) is a thinking bowler. Ashwin needs to work more on his test bowling. And I am surprised not to find Umesh (Yadav) in the team that is touring England."
Fast bowling is hard work, More said and added that "we need smart bowlers. We need bowlers like Anderson and Vaas. We have to have back-up players; that is not happening. We have to select a team that has to be match winners."
