Fake Swiss Bank List On Indian Black Money Holders Goes Viral

BOOM found that the post claiming that the Swiss Bank had released a list on black money holders was fake.

Claim

"BBC NEWS,LONDON,3.9.2019: Swiss bank corporation after constant pressure from the Enforcement directorate and CBI finally submits the list of accounts belonging to Indian citizens to the Indian government."

Fact

The list claiming to show the Swiss bank holdings of several opposition Indian politicians is fake. Swiss Bank Corporation mentioned in the post was merged with the Union Bank of Switzerland to form UBS in December 1997, it has been defunct since 1998. BOOM had previously debunked an image of a document falsely claiming to be of Swiss Bank Corporation showing black money holders in the bank. In an email response to BOOM, a BBC spokesperson said, "We can confirm that this story is fake and has nothing at all to do with BBC News. We urge audiences to verify stories on the BBC News website."

BOOM found that the post claiming that the Swiss Bank had released a list on black money holders was fake.
