COVID-19 Death Toll Cross 15k Mark; Total Cases Near 5 Lakh Mark
According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has reported 4,90,401 total COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, an increase of 17,296. 407 deaths have been reported as the death toll stands at 15,301. 2,85,636 patients have been discharged so far.
Maharashtra Reports Highest One-day Spike In New COVID-19 Cases
4,841 new cases have been reported in Maharashtra today, the highest one-day increase so far. The total case count is 1,47,741 while the death toll stands at 6,931. The fatality rate in the state is 4.69% while the recovery rate is 52.42%.
Five States To Receive First Dose Of Remdesivir
Hyderabad based Hetero Drugs has sent 20,000 vials of Remdesivir to Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. The drug which is touted to fight COVID-19 is manufactured by Hetero and Cipla in the country.
Hetero said a 100-milligram vial of the drug will cost Rs 5,400 while Cipla is going to share its product at a price lesser than Rs. 5,000.
The drug will be available only through hospitals and government, and not via retail, Press Trust of India reported quoting Hetero Group of Companies MD Vamsi Krishna Bandi.
Won't Allow Patanjali To Sell Coronil In Maharashtra: Home Minister Anil Deshmukh
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that the sale of Patanjali Ayurved's "Coronil", which it touts as a COVID-19 cure, won't be allowed in the state until the National Institute of Medical Sciences, Jaipur ascertain whether clinical trials of the medicine have been conducted.

COVID-19 Cases To Reach 10M Within Seven Days: WHO
WHO Director Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus stated on June 24 that the world is expected to reach 10 million cases within the next seven days. Currently, the total number of cases are a little over 9.5 million.
Dr. Tedros further added that even though the world continues research and development for vaccines and therapeutics, there is an urgent responsibility to do as much as the world can with the available tools to suppress transmission of SARS-CoV-2.
India Adds Nearly 17,000 New Cases In Highest One-day Spike
India reported 16,922 new COVID-19 cases, the highest one-day rise, as the total case count reached 4,73,105. 418 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll stands at 14,894.
Australia Reports First COVID-19 Death In A Month
A man in his 80s died due to COVID-19 in Australia, the country's first COVID-19 death in more than a month. The Victoria State Department of Health and Human Services said that the man died overnight in a hospital.
20 new people tested positive for COVID-19, the eighth straight day of double-digit case growth in Victoria which has led authorities to tighten restrictions in the state reducing the number of visitors people can have in their home to five. Outside of the home, people can now gather in groups of up to 10 only.
Australia has reported 7,492 COVID-19 cases with 102 deaths.
TMC MLA Tamonash Ghosh Dies Due To COVID-19
Three-time TMC MLA Tamonash Ghosh died on Wednesday a month after testing positive for COVID-19. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted her condolences. Ghosh's wife and daughters had recovered from the disease.

India Records Highest One-day Spike In New COVID-19 Cases
According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported an increase of 15,968 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total case count stands at 4,56,183.
465 patients succumbed to the disease as the death toll rose to 14,476. 2,58,684 patients have been discharged so far.
Mumbai to Undertake Mission Universal Testing
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has stated that they are going to purchase 1 lakh Antigen Testing kits which provide results in 15-30 minutes at all its hospitals and centres. It has also asked the 35 private hospitals to procure the same.
Furthermore, e-prescriptions can now be used for COVID-19 testing while citizens about 70 years of age can get themselves tested without prescriptions.
