Restaurants, Malls, Religious Places To Reopen In Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal
During a press conference on June 7, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that restaurants, shopping malls and religious places shall reopen in the national capital soon.
He also mentioned that strict social distancing will need to be followed.

India's COVID-19 Death Toll Nears 7,000
India added more than 9,000 new COVID-19 cases for the fourth day in a row on Sunday. 9,971 patients tested positive in the last 24 hours to take the total case count to 2,46,628. 287 patients died to take the death toll to 6,929. India has now overtaken Spain in the total number of cases in the world and is now the fifth-worst hit country after the USA, Brazil, Russia and the UK.

FIR Filed Against Sir Ganga Ram Hospital For Violating COVID-19 Norms
The Delhi government has filed an FIR against Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for allegedly violating COVID-19 norms, reports PTI. According to the complainant, a senior official of the Delhi government's health department, the FIR has been filed for a "violation" on part of the hospital in adhering to COVID-19 regulation norms as specified under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
Jair Bolsanaro Threatens To Pull Brazil Out Of WHO
President Jair Bolsanaro has threatened to pull Brazil out of the World Health Organisation unless it ceases to be a "partisan political organization", reports Reuters. The comment comes after WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris said that a key criteria for easing lockdowns in South America is declining rate of transmission. Brazil has reported the most deaths due to COVID-19 after the US and the UK.
India Records Highest One-day Spike In New COVID-19 Cases
India recorded the highest one-day spike in new COVID-19 cases after 9,887 people tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours. The total case count has risen to 2,36,657. 294 patients succumbed to the disease, another one-day record, to take the death toll to 6,642.
Fiji Declares Itself COVID-19 Free
Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama took to Twitter to announce that the country had cleared their last active COVID-19 cases. Bainimarama said that Fiji has not reported a positive case for 45 days.

COVID-19 Linked To Risk Of Stroke In Healthy Young People Claims Study
A study conducted by the Jefferson University Hospitals in the US has claimed that healthy young people with no risk factors for stroke may have an increased risk of suffering a stroke if they have contracted COVID-19. "We were seeing patients in their 30s, 40s and 50s with massive strokes, the kind that we typically see in patients in their 70s and 80s,” said Pascal Jabbour, MD, Chief of the Division of Neurovascular Surgery and Endovascular Surgery in the Vickie & Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience – Jefferson Health and a senior author of the study. Dr Jabbour also said that the study is preliminary but it can serve as a warning to medical personnel battling the pandemic.
Lancet Retracts HCQ Study Which Halted WHO Trial
The Lancet has retracted the study "Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine with or without a macrolide for treatment of COVID-19: a multinational registry analysis" after the authors of the study "were unable to complete an independent audit of the data underpinning their analysis", the journal said in a statement. The World Health Organisation, which had halted trials after the publication of the study, have since resumed the trials. Richard Hurton, the editor of The Lancet, told The Guardian, "This is a shocking example of research misconduct in the middle of a global health emergency."

According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India added a record 9,851 positive cases to take the total COVID-19 case count to 2,26,770. 273 patients succumbed to the disease as the death toll rose to 6,348. India ranks third behind the USA and Brazil in daily rise in COVID-19 cases.
